Chapter 9: Living With Lady Elise

The foursome boarded the Marie III late the next morning and were soon underway for Edinburgh. On the way there Lady Elise, to Kitty’s surprise, asked Kendra if she would be willing to remain as Kitty’s lady’s maid, and Kendra admitted she would but was concerned about finding employment if Kitty decided to return to England without her.

“Kendra,” asked Kitty, “would you like to remain my lady’s maid when I return to England, or would you rather return to being a stewardess for Dumont Lines?”

“If you can afford to have me and would like me to stay with you, I would rather do so.”
